A lawsuit against KPMG, a large accounting firm, was recently granted conditional collective action certification by a federal judge in the Southern District of New York. The lawsuit, rooted in allegations of gender-based pay discrimination, also included claims of discriminatory acts against women in promotions and work assignments against those who were pregnant and mothers. Upon receiving collective action status, notices were mailed to thousands of women who have worked for KPMG since October 2008 giving them the opportunity to participate in the lawsuit. Women who wish to join the lawsuit must return their consent forms before January 1, 2015.
